Established in 1652, the historical champagne house Henri Giraud is known as “The Champagne for lovers of great Burgundy”. In terms of quality, Henri Giraud’s many Grand Cru vineyards are located in Aÿ, the Vosne-Romanée of Champagne and in terms of style, Henri Giraud is one of the only producers who vinifies and ages their champagnes in oak barrels, as is done for great Burgundy. Moreover, they are the only winery allowed to use the rare and exquisite oak from the Argonne forest near Champagne
The Hommage au Pinot Noir is another fabulous cuvée from Giraud. Rich, ample and creamy, the Hommage is so incredibly expressive. 100% Pinot Noir and created in an unusual style that sees 11 months in oak followed by 6 months in tank, an approach that is much more common for white Burgundy. It is truly rare to see such élevage in Champagne. There is red plum, kirsch, mint, chamomile and spice that all meld together effortlessly making for a rich and generous - but light-on-its-feet - cuvée
