The 2013 Le Menut des Jacobins Saint-Émilion Grand Cru displays an appearance of clear to medium purple colour in the glass. On the nose there are pronounced aromas of dark fruit, liquorice and leather whilst on the palate this cuvée is perfectly balanced and dry with a medium acidity, soft juicy tannins and medium to full bodied finish.
It was built in 1389 and is now the tasting room of the estate. The vineyard spreads over 10.7 hectares with three grape varieties : merlot, cabernet franc and petit-verdot since 2010. The average age of the vineyard is about 40 years. The vineyard is organic-farming certified by ECOCERT France since September 2020. To produce the wine of Couvent des Jacobins, vinification takes place in traditional, temperature controlled, cement tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in a combination of French oak barrels for a portion of the wine and remainder occurs in vat. The wine is aged in an average of 50% new, French oak barrels for between 12 to 15 months prior to bottling.
