The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico La Rosta shows dusty florals, dark wood tones, dried cherries and currants. It’s silky and deeply textural with mineral tinged red fruits and saturating spice, taking on a bit of heat, as medical cherries, cinnamon and clove settle in. This leaves the palate aching with concentration and a coating of fine tannins, while finishing long to hints of licorice and dark chocolate. I like the mix of sweet and savory here, as well as the lower 15.% abv.
