The 2015 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Henri Richard has a fragrant, floral bouquet with macerated red cherries, crushed strawberry and light vanilla aromas. The palate is clean and pure, well balanced with fine tannin, bright and vivid with pretty blueberry and red plum notes on the spicy finish. This is well worth looking out for, as it attests to some very good winemaking skill.
Owner, Domaine Henri Richard mainly produces great Pinot Noirs. Recognized for its Gevrey-Chambertin "Aux Corvées" and "Les Tuileries" as well as for its Grands Crus of Charmes-Chambertin and Mazoyères-Chambertin, the estate also offers a Marsannay "En Larrey", two Coteaux Bourguignon, an Aligoté, a Côtes de Nuits Village blanc and a Crémant de Bourgogne. Without oenological input or filtration: it is the obligation to harvest healthy and ripe grapes, to rack without pump, at the right time, to have the wine as clear as possible. In short, it's working without a net. The family obtains wines here that meet their requirements: the symbiosis of a grape variety, its terroir and a tradition.
