The Fruttaio Ca’ Rizzieri 2021 by Aldo Rainoldi is a deeply expressive and powerful Sforzato from Valtellina. In the glass, it shows a rich ruby hue, hinting at its intensity. The nose opens with a complex bouquet of preserved red fruits, dried grapes, toasted hazelnut, cocoa, and subtle notes of tobacco, spice, and licorice, reflecting both its careful appassimento process and oak ageing. On the palate, it is full-bodied and warm, with robust yet refined tannins that provide structure while remaining balanced and elegant. The texture is round and enveloping, leading to a long, persistent finish where the fruit and spice notes resurface. Best served slightly cool, around 16–18 °C, this wine pairs beautifully with red meats, game, hearty stews, and aged cheeses, offering a harmonious and memorable tasting experience.
